For even the most rigorously engineered products, there is no harsher test than the marine environment. Whether frest or salt water, warm weather or cold, products designs for the marine environment are sternly tested with every nautical mile. Answering this challenge is Technicold® by Northern Lights. An ingenious, and iron-tough solution for on-board air conditioning is Technicold®’S line of Split DX Systems. The condensing and evaporation units are packaged together into a compact, versatile workhorse. Technicold® Split DX Systems are small enough to install in an engine room, under a floor, or tucked into any convenient berth. Heating is also available. The Split DX System’s compressor is equipped with a fluted cupronickel counter-flow condenser, which is sea water cooled to remove heat from the refrigerant. This keeps your unit safe and condensation free without adding space or weight. Soft copper refrigerant tubing connects the Split DX System to the evaporator. A non-corrosive, non-conductive Bakelite electrical box holds the start capacitor, start relay and run capacitor, promising reliable start-up even under low voltage conditions. Technicold® Split DX Systems are available in most voltage options and on 50/60 cycle operation. Convenience and efficiency are the watch words. Technicold® condensers feature a whisper quiet, sealed hermetic compressor mounted on a condensation-proof 16 gauge stainless steel platform. Vibration mounts make the unit even quieter and more efficient. The fluted coaxial “tube-in-tube” counter flow condenser is self-cleaning and forged of reliable cupronickel to ensure optimal heat transfer with minimum water flow. Because safety at-sea is of utmost importance, Technicold® provides standard safety systems that are truly state of the art. A low pressure control protects the compressor from damage by cycling the compressor off should airflow become restricted or the coolant should run low. A manual high temperature reset is easily available should cooling water become insufficient.
